Your story, held in a single folio
Folioheir runs facilitated workshops and documentation sessions that help you build a personal folio and preserve what matters most in your family's history.
What We Offer
Workshops & Sessions
Three distinct offerings, each designed around a different stage of personal and family documentation work.
Personal Folio Workshop
A three-hour facilitated session in which you build your own personal folio — a bound document holding a one-page self-summary, your key records list, and a short personal note. You leave with the folio in hand.
- Printed template & starter cover included
- Led by a senior facilitator
- Your folio stays with you, always
Heritage Documentation Block
A three-session block supporting you through documenting a piece of family heritage — a household trade, a relative's working life, or the history of a cherished object. Reading, conversation, and writing combined.
- Printed booklet of your final document
- Follow-up note one month after completion
- Facilitator prompts & structured guidance
Annual Folio Membership
A twelve-month membership for participants who have completed a personal folio and want sustained support keeping it current. Quarterly calls, writing prompts, and a printed annual addition.
- Quarterly 30-min facilitator call
- Quarterly writing prompts
- Annual printed folio addition
Why Folioheir
What Makes the Difference
Each session is built around what you actually want to keep, not a standardised output.
Senior Facilitation
Every session is led by a facilitator with years of personal archival work, not a junior assistant following a script.
Your Records Stay Yours
Folioheir does not retain copies of any folio or documentation produced in sessions. Everything produced leaves with you.
Writing-Centred Approach
Sessions emphasise writing and reflection over digital tools. The result is a physical document that holds up over time.
Rooted in Sabah
The studio understands Sabahan family structures, oral traditions, and the mix of cultural backgrounds that shape how heritage is held here.
Small Group Sizes
Workshop cohorts are kept small so each participant receives considered attention throughout the session.
Ongoing Support Option
The membership track means you can keep returning to your folio over years, not just once at a workshop.

Common Questions
Questions & Answers
What is a personal folio?
A personal folio is a single bound document that holds a concise summary of who you are, a list of the records you maintain, and a short personal note written in your own words. It is not a legal document; it is an organisational and reflective one.
Do I need any prior writing experience to join a workshop?
No. The workshop is structured to support participants at any level of writing comfort. The facilitator provides prompts and templates that make the process straightforward. What matters is your own story, not polished prose.
How long does the Personal Folio Workshop run?
The Personal Folio Workshop is a single three-hour session held at the studio. It typically runs on a weekend morning. You leave with a completed folio at the end of the session.
What happens during the Heritage Documentation Block?
The block runs across three sessions. In the first, you and the facilitator discuss the piece of heritage you want to document and agree on a scope. The second and third sessions move through reading, conversation, and writing. At the end you receive a printed booklet of your completed document.
Is the Annual Folio Membership available to someone who hasn't done a workshop yet?
The membership is designed for participants who have already built a personal folio, so completing the Personal Folio Workshop first is the usual path. If you have a folio built outside of the studio, get in touch and we can discuss whether membership is a good fit.
What are the session fees and how do I pay?
The Personal Folio Workshop is RM 510, the Heritage Documentation Block is RM 1,260, and the Annual Folio Membership is RM 2,580. Payment details are shared when you confirm your place. Bank transfer is the standard method.
Does Folioheir keep copies of my folio or documents?
No. All documents produced during a session belong to and leave with the participant. Folioheir does not retain copies. The studio's contact form collects your name and email solely to respond to your enquiry.
